Hi, I’m Jessica Stephens, the owner and instructor at RedSong Music Studio. I knew from a young age that I enjoyed teaching (ask my siblings who I attempted to force to “play school” with me so I could practice teaching!) At the same time, I was fascinated by the piano at my grandparents’ house and begged my parents to sign me up for lessons. I’m so grateful they did and later I was able to add violin lessons as well. Fast forward a few years to high school when a few friends asked me to give their kids music lessons and I discovered that combining my two passions of teaching and music was the perfect job for me! I’ve been teaching music for 18 years now and have worked with well over 200 different students individually in private music lessons. I still love connecting with kids through music and find so much joy in teaching!
In addition to my teaching experience, my other educational and professional experience includes:
-Completing my B.A. in Music from Thomas Edison State University
-Completing a 2 year internship in string pedagogy at Duke University String School and then working there as a violin instructor, orchestra assistant, and chamber music coach for 6 years
-Working as a piano accompanist for the Cary-Apex Youth Choir since 2019
-Leading and accompanying a variety of church vocal and instrumental ensembles
